Have you ever seen such an attractive form of Prosopite? This very rare calcium aluminium fluoride mineral is usually rather dull looking, and certainly not what one would describe as colourful. Until now. This recent material from Zoila mine at Sierra Rica in Chihuahua, Mexico has redefined what we should expect of a great Prosopite. I have to confess to having first assumed that this beautiful sky-blue mineral was Chrysocolla, but analysis has shown otherwise. Not only is this Prosopite colourful and texturally fun - as globular aggregates - but combined with the associated dark blue Azurite and icy colourless-white Creedite on a bed of terminated Quartz crystals it looks wonderful. This is amazing new material, but there are not many specimens. A world-class Prosopite: rare and beautiful.
