A superb primary Malachite perched on millimetre-sized scalenohedral Calcite crystals from the vein-complex at Onganja mine in the Windhoek District of Namibia. Please note the mine name is recorded as Ogonja, but this is more commonly referred to as Onganja. Intergrown modified-monoclinic crystals form a 1.2 x 1.2 x 1.0 cm tightly packed cluster of a highly lustrous dark bottle-green Malachite. The numerous terminations have parallel feathered edges which grade to a bright neon green. The prefix 'primary' simply emphasises these are naturally occurring Malachite crystals, not pseudomorphs or some other form of replacement, as so many Malachite crystals are. A choice primary Malachite from Namibia mounted on a small polished acrylic base.
