This rich, crystallized, small cabinet-sized plate of Primary Malachite - a rare form of Malachite crystals not replacing an earlier mineral - is from the famous Mashamba West mine in the Democratic Republic of Congo. It is a really deep emerald-green colour akin to Brochantite. The crystals, which impressively reach over 1 cm across, are wedge-shaped and intergrown, with a somewhat resinous lustre. Almost the entire specimen is Primary Malachite, with no matrix, other than a few small areas of an unknown pale blue mineral seen on the back.
