Old Kilpatrick is a famous district for minerals, situated just north of the River Clyde and to the north west of Glasgow. This entire area is associated with the Tertiary Volcanic Province of western Scotland and is type locality to Thomsonite-Ca. This small cabinet specimen's 6 x 4 cm display surface is covered with pale mustard yellow, botryoidal Prehnite forming crystalline clusters averaging 4 to 6 mm. The Prehnite covers a strong matrix of white Calcite. The specimen comes with a Bryce M. Wright (90, Gt. Russell St., London) label, one of Britain's most famous Victorian mineral dealers.
