The mineral Plagionite is an extremely rare lead-antimony sulphosalt and although no specific mine name is recorded with this specimen, it is from its type locality of the Wolfsberg district close to the town of Stolberg, in Saxony-Anhalt, Germany. This specimen is most probably from the actual type locality of the Graf Jost-Christian mine, but this cannot be stated with certainly. Blackish lead grey micro-crystals of Plagionite line a 3 x 1 cm shallow open vug in a mid to light greyish-silver metallic matrix and Plagionite crystals lining many more 2 to 4 mm diameter vugs all over the specimen. This small miniature of the rare sulphosalt Plagionite is well priced at $300 and will no doubt fill a gap in a comprehensive sulphosalt or systematic collection.
