Although not super rare on a world-scale, the calcium titanium oxide species Perovskite is rarely seen in prominent high-class crystals. First discovered and described from Akhmatov mine in Kusinsky District, Chelyabinsk Oblast, Russia during the 1830s, the crystals from there show a distinctive surface appearance superfically reminiscent of etching, but which forms during crystallization through a combination of pseudocubic and dodecahedral faces and repetitive twinning. This fantastic miniature specimen from the superb systematic collection assembled by the brothers Martin and Michael Günther (1951-2007 & 1956-2021) shows this form exceptionally well, and on matrix presents amazingly well. Labelled as from Akhmatovskaya Kop', Nazyamskie Mts it is from the vicinity of the Akhmatov mine.
