Metallic, greyish-black micro-crystals of Parapierrotite form as clusters in a matrix of blood red to bright scarlet Realgar on a matrix of creamy, fine granular matrix. This rare and interesting species Parapierrotite, a thallium sulphosalt, is from its type locality in the Allchar deposit at Rožden in the Republic of Macedonia, a locality famous amongst collectors for its rare thallium (Tl) minerals. The element thallium is rarely encountered in collections and this is a great miniature example of the species with the association of Realgar and two small orange patches of Orpiment. The specimen comes in a high dome Jousi box because of its thallium and arsenic content. If the specimen is handled, then it is recommended to wash your hands as neither element is particularly human-friendly!
