This fine miniature from Wheal Unity, a mine neighbouring Wheal Gorland at St. Day in Cornwall, England, features Cornwallite which is one of the rarer copper arsenate species seen in these mines. The Cornwallite forms a pleasing matt, mid-green, box-work within which cavities are filled with glassy dark olive-green microcrystals of Olivenite. The whole assemblage appears to infill the centre of a partial nodule that is coated in more Olivenite along with dull black manganese oxides. Ex Malcolm Southwood collection, no. MS 2014.204, ex Cowen collection and ex Richard Barstow stock.
