This mid-size miniature is a great example of both crystallised and fibrous Olivenite from Wheal Gorland, probably the most famous of all mines in Cornwall, England. A ribbon of sub-mm dark bottle green Olivenite crystals stretches 3.3 cm across a vuggy surface lined with stubby colourless to milky-white Quartz crystals with a bright glassy lustre. In areas on the top and sides of the matrix the Olivenite becomes more fibrous and consequently, a much lighter pale sage-green. The contrast between the Olivenite and Quartz is most aesthetic. A classic Cornish species from the Josef Clemente (1899-1987) Collection of southern Germany.
