In all the years I've been looking at and enjoying Cornish minerals, this has to be one of the richest Olivenites I've ever had the pleasure to examine! The crystals are so large and plentiful I at first questioned it was not something else! From Wheal Unity in the civil parish of Gwennap, Cornwall, a characteristic bed of opaque milky Quartz crystals is capped with an incredibly rich lays deep bottle green, almost black, Olivenite crystals of 1 cm tall or greater! Around the edges the radial and acicular structure is visible and here the crystals are a light, apple to olive green with a bright lustre. The Olivenite terminations present a dark green to black surface and an intensely brilliant lustre. You might only get two minerals for your money, Olivenite and milky Quartz, but my oh my, you'll have to do a lot of searching to find another Olivenite as good and spectacular as this!
