In 2015 the Serra do Caldeirão claims near Pontes e Lacerda in Mato Grosso state, Brazil produced what some believe to the the finest crystallized Native Gold's known. They are certainly exceptionally good, but the supply was limited to one 'batch' of specimens after which a larger mining company took control of the area and no new specimens have been seen in the subsequent decade. Most presented branching dendritic aggregates but this individual crystal is very different, showing an excellent skeletal, or hoppered, octahedral crystal with excellent definition and with very little evidence of rounding on the edges. This crystal weighs 10 grams and including the small offshoot, it measures 2.2 cm tall by 1.3 cm by 1 cm. Most specimens from this remarkable find have found their way into high-end collections and are unlikely to be seen again for some time. This beauty was obtained by the brothers 'Kirby' and Eddie Siber for their remarkable gold collection which was purchased by Crystal Classics. It is certainly a phenomenal individual Native Gold crystal.
