This remarkable crystallized Native Gold specimen from the Siber and Siber collection comes from the famous Zapata claims, Icabarú River placers, Gran Sabana Municipality, Bolívar, Venezuela - renowned for their stunning crystallized gold forms. Thumbnail in size and weighing 4 grams, this crystal displays a fascinating hoppered concave internal surface, giving it the appearance of a tiny 'twister' or tornado, or that of an exotic clam shell. The Native Gold is very bright with a rich golden-yellow colour, suggesting that it is high purity gold. Small, but exceptionally well-crystallized, this crystal cannot have travelled far from its source rock when found, otherwise its soft metallic surfaces would have been rounded and distorted. Instead, it is a crystallographic delight.
