Red Ledge mine is one of the premier Californian localities for specimen-quality Native Gold. Such is its history with iconic dramatic, large, freestanding crystallized and leaf Gold, that collectors vie for the limited high quality specimens when they become available through the recycling of older collections. The mine itself was producing Gold in the early 20th century and produced some of the largest and most spectacular Native Gold specimens ever produced in California during the 1920s,1950s and again in the early 1980s. This wonderful, classic, crystallized flattened leaf Native Gold comes from the Siber and Siber collection in Switzerland. Consisting of 8 grams of very bright metallic Gold, this 3.9 cm long specimen is a good visible size for display, and exhibits lovely crystals around its edges, including a characterful branch with spinel-twinning. A Californian classic.
