This remarkable Quincy mine Native Copper displays magnificent individual Native Copper crystals. With support, the specimen stands dramatically upright showing off its wonderful crystal form. Patches of white Calcite accompany the Native Copper, but it is the Quartz alongside that is far more interesting. A layer of millimetre-sized bipyramidal glassy Quartz crystals, some colourless, some pale green with Epidote inclusions, surrounds the edges of the Native Copper. The Native Copper has a distinctive reddish to reddish-orange hue and duller metallic lustre, possibly relating a partial thin coating of Cuprite. Ex David Hardman collection (no. 8) and another number (C1689) is painted on the back of the specimen.
