Nagyágite from Săcărâmb at Deva, Hunedoara, Romania is always a European and indeed worldwide classic. Known since at least 1802, specimens from what was formerly known of as Nagyág (later Săcărâmb) have never been repeated elsewhere in anything remotely near the quality of its Type Locality. At Săcărâmb, Nagyágite is known to occur in sizable dark grey metallic bladed crystals, usually embedded within pale coloured Rhodochrosite, but freestanding crystals are a rare beast indeed. This large miniature specimen is a revelation, not only for the richness in coverage of Nagyágite, but because the crystals are freestanding and perfectly formed. These reach over 2 cm in length and form a complex arrangement of upright crystals. This is indeed a magnificent demonstration of this extremely rare complex lead antimony sulphide gold telluride. Ex Herb Obodda collection, it is also accompanied by a Rukin Jelks label (1927-2014).
