Obviously the Wushan Spessartine mine at Tongbei in Fujian Province, China is renowned for fine Spessartine crystals, but some of the accompanying minerals are really well crystallized too. This lovely miniature specimen demonstrates this with Muscovite mica, featuring a 1 cm thick 'book', reaching 2.2 cm across in its widest orientation. It sits upon a small piece of granite matrix surrounded by orange Spessartine crystals. The largest reaches an impressive 1.4 cm across, but is internally fractured, whilst the smaller crystals are more gemmy and a brighter orange colour.
