Unusually coloured and well crystallised Mimetite with a light scattering of rice grain habit Smithsonite crystals makes for an exceptional miniature from the Tsumeb mine in the Oshikoto Region of Namibia. The Smithsonite forms a piled-up rib of terminated hexagonal crystals averaging between 1 and 1.3 cm tall. Those close to the base are bright lemon yellow while the majority are chocolatey deep mustard yellow with a sparkling fine granular texture. The crystals are typically 3 to 4 mm in diameter whereas the scattered opaque cream Smithsonite crystals average around 1 mm long. A terrific combination of Mimetite with Smithsonite from Tsumeb.
