Both Mimetite and Malachite are commonly encountered at the Tsumeb mine in Namibia, but occasionally a particular habit or combination appears that surprises. This is just such a specimen. Unusual, striking and aesthetic, this cabinet specimen ticks all the boxes for a fresh new addition to any fine Tsumeb collection. A complex, rusty coloured, porous gossan matrix with its sooty black top surface entirely covered with tiny, sub-one millimetre spherical rosettes of mid-leafy emerald green Malachite. Each rosette is individually highlighted by a narrow yet distinct halo of black matrix. Scattered over the Malachite, mainly towards one side of the specimen, are 5 to 8 mm diameter delicate acicular sprays of pale whitish-lemon Mimetite.
