In 1968/1969 a single pocket of superbly coloured Mimetite was discovered at a small prospect at San Pedro Corralitos, Chihuahua, Mexico. Specimens reached the market at Tucson in 1969 but where quickly snapped up and dispersed. This find was never repeated, and so when specimens become available through the dispersal of older collections they are much sought after. This particular specimen is of significant size and with its superb golden yellow colour, silky lustre and rich coverage of the classic almost globular crystal aggregates, it is a real wonder. Some of the globular masses are overgrown by small florette-like sprays of a similar colour. A beautiful display Mimetite from Mexico.
