A remarkable and aesthetic specimen of Mimetite from the Hat Yai District of Songkhla Province, Thailand. A well-cemented, rusty-light brown limonitic matrix has its approximately 8 x 6 cm top surface completely covered with gemmy and highly lustrous acid-honey-yellow Mimetite crystals to 1.5 cm, many of which display a stepped growth structure very rarely encountered in crystallography. Individual hexagonal Mimetite crystals have grown to a certain height and then stepped out horizontally, pagoda-like, before growing taller at this increased width. The same process is repeated so forming crystals with a slender base, but gradually telescoping outwards and upwards to end with a relatively wide, flat termination. A superb Mimetite from Hat Yai in Thailand.
