Everyone knows about the wonderful Spessartine crystals from Wushan Spessartine mine, Tongbei, Yunxiao Co., Zhangzhou Prefecture, Fujian Province, China, but there are other interesting species in well-formed crystals too, that are not often seen. This specimen is dominated by a 77 mm long well-formed Microcline crystal of the variety Amazonite. The main body of the Microcline crystal is white with some surface pitting and patches of blue-grey, but the main termination is smoother and has one face of the characteristic Amazonite pale blue-green. Several other, much smaller, well-formed Microcline crystals project from the base along with several Smoky Quartz crystals, and in several places, rough, fan-like aggregates of Albite overgrow the matrix and some of the Microcline. The specimen sits naturally for display in two ways, both showing off the main Microcline crystal to great effect. A prominent crack can be seen running through the base - this is a natural rehealed fracture that is totally solid.
