This very large miniature to small cabinet specimen from the Tenke-Fungurume area in the Kolwezi mining district, DR Congo displays perfectly the wonderful new association of Quartz overgrowing Malachite. Displaying a prominent, large, 2 cm radius, rounded spray of green fibrous Malachite, broken internally to reveal its wonderful colour and form, the remainder of the specimen features a 2 mm thick layer of finely crystallized glossy pyramidal Quartz coating both Malachite and the underlying purple-brown ironstone matrix. One 'hemisphere' of Quartz displays a slight green colour due to underlying Malachite and the remainder of the Quartz has a purple-brown colour created by the ironstone matrix. A super example of this distinctive material.
