Malachite coating octagonal Cuprite crystals from Chessy-les-Mines at Villefranche in France is one of the prized specimen combinations from this historic mine, the type locality for Azurite, originally known as Chessylite. Several modified octahedral Cuprite crystals, up to 6 mm across and coated with leafy-peppermint green Malachite, sit on a mid-azure-blue crudely crystallised matrix of solid Azurite partly embedded with rounded creamy grains of likely Cerussite. A great miniature and a good opportunity to acquire such Cuprite crystal on matrix, for often these are only seen as loose sets off-matrix.
