A charming small miniature of velvety dark emerald-green needles of Malachite included in, and developed over, lemon-tinged tan rhombohedra of Calcite. This delightful specimen is from the Tsumeb mine in Namibia, where Malachite was found distributed throughput the orebody, from the supergene surface zone down to the third oxidation zone below 42 level, at a depth of about 1,450 m (4,760 ft) below surface. Rich druses of delicate acicular Malachite crystals form a dense carpet across about half the surface of the intergrown Calcite crystals, themselves developed to 1.5 cm on edge. The Calcite rhombs are precisely formed with sharp-edged, and where the Malachite is included, it appears like implanted lines and patches of moss.
