The hillside locality at Lärchultini in Valais, Switzerland, contains a rich suite of minerals associated with the paragneiss of the Monte Leone nappe. Magnetite is one of these and without doubt this large miniature is an exceptional example because of its coverage and quality of Magnetite crystals, plus a few slightly smoky terminated Quartz crystals. The Magnetite forms crisp octahedral crystals up to at least 7 mm on edge of which there must be at least sixty scattered over the display surface. Several Quartz crystals lie among the Magnetite, the largest measuring 2.8 cm long with an equant hexagonal termination. This Swiss locality is spectacular and so is this Magnetite.
