This extremely fine specimen of Ludlamite crystals is from a remote phosphate deposit deep within the Amazon rainforest at Cabeça do Cachorro Claim, Brazil. Distinctive in form, the gemmy to slightly resinous translucent lustrous green crystals of Ludlamite display an unusual wedge-shaped triangular form, with stepped edges, quite different to any crystal form I have seen before. The crystals are really well-defined and measure up to an impressive 1.5 cm in length. Their colour is the classic apple-green of Ludlamite, but with a really attractive bright 'wet' lustre. The crystals are richly scattered and aggregated over a dark brown crystallized Siderite matrix making for a lovely display specimen which, as a flat plate sits perfectly for display with angled support. A couple of the crystals around the periphery of the plate show minor contact damage, but those on the main display surface are in superb condition. A really fine display quality Ludlamite.
