This very fine specimen of Ludlamite crystals is from a remote phosphate deposit deep within the Amazon rainforest at Cabeça do Cachorro Claim, Brazil. Distinctive in form, the gemmy to slightly resinous translucent lustrous green crystals of Ludlamite display an unusual stepped triangular form, quite different to any crystal form I have seen before. The crystals are really well-defined and measure up to an impressive 1.4 cm in length. Their colour is the classic apple-green of Ludlamite, but those aggregated crystals at one end of the specimen are somewhat frosted, with white surface patches. The crystals are richly scattered and aggregated over a dark brown crystallized Siderite matrix making for a lovely display specimen which sits naturally on its edge for display.
