This lovely example of well crystallised Linarite in a mixed sulphide Quartz veinstone matrix has bee labelled as Dry Gill mine on all three accompanying labels, the original tow originating in Germany, one of which is a Dr F. Krantz of Bonn stock label. Although one can never be 100% confident in such circumstances, this specimen is most probably from the relatively nearby Red Gill mine, with 'Red' and 'Dry' getting swapped at some point in the specimen's history. This aside, the Linarite forms as gemmy rich azure blue prismatic crystals lining and crossing a 10 x 6 mm vug. More massive, anhedral Linarite is richly distributed throughout the matrix. Despite the slight uncertainty in its locality, it is without doubt from the Caldbeck Fells and is a fine example of Linarite from here.
