This large miniature specimen of Libethenite is from the less well known East Gunnislake mine in the far east of Cornwall - or should this be the far west of Devon, as although the mine is geographically linked to Gunnislake in Cornwall it is in fact just across the border on the Devon side of the Tamar river. Extensive dark green sparkling microcrystalline crusts of Libethenite coat gossanous iron-rich Quartz veinstone and form veinlets cutting through the gossan. Under magnification the Libethenite can be seen to be richly crystallized. Specimens of Libethenite are rarely seen for sale from this interesting locality. Ex W.J.B. Eliasson collection and ex Mike Brooke collection
