Delicate acicular crystals of cyan blue Langite, deep forest green Atacamite and silvery-lime green Cuprite form rich encrustations over two faces of a heavily limonite stained elongated matrix of slate or killas from Bedford United mine by Tavistock Hamlets in west Devon. This mine is only about 240 m from the River Tamar and border with Cornwall. All three species are well crystallised and cab be best appreciated under low magnification; x 5 is quite suitable. The Cuprite is at first elusive if looking for hints of maroon, but the very tiny octahedral crystals, only a bout 0.1 mm across, are oxidised to an attractive lime green with lustrous silver patches.
