From Crosscut Creek by Kulan Camp, Rapid Creek, Yukon, Canada, this incredibly rich cabinet specimen features no less than five remarkable mineral species from this locality; Kulanite, Penikisite, Fluorapatite, Brazilianite and Wardite. From my own experience, all of these species save for Wardite are very rare at the Rapid Creek area and the combination of them all on a single specimen is superb. In case you are unfamiliar with some of these species (including me), Kulanite is a complex hydrated phosphate containing barium, iron, manganese, magnesium and aluminium and Penikisite is of similar composition with the addition of calcium. These very rare species were named for Alan Kulan (1921-1977) and Gunar Penikis (1936-1979), two prospectors who formed a partnership exploring the mineral deposits of the Yukon.
