Kröhnkite is a rare hydrated sodium copper sulphate, a species which is very seldom seen for sale or in collections. This fine example is from the Chuquicamata District in the Antofagasta Region of Chile; its type locality being Chuquicamata mine, although there was no record of this specific mine with the specimen. Forming a large cabinet specimen, a rich vein of vivid sky blue Kröhnkite bisects the matrix, this being a granular, creamy tan Quartz. On the display face the Kröhnkite vein forms a boudinage structure (sausage-like) which expands from 1 cm to 4 cm thick. An excellent and colourful example of this rare sulphate from Chile.
