Kipushite is a copper-zinc phosphate and occurs on this specimen as lustrous turquoise-green micro-crystals richly scattered over Pseudomalachite of almost identical colour. From the Kipushi mine in the Katanga (Shaba) region of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, unsurprisingly, the type locality for Kipushite. The Pseudomalachite is a slightly more blueish-turquoise-green, yet with a much duller lustre. The two species cover a friable, yet stable limonitic matrix. A great example of this rare species from the Kipushi mine.
