This is one of the more peculiar of specimens to come from the Broken Hill district in New South Wales, Australia. Originally Cerussite - lead carbonate - the matted web of acicular crystals have been replaced by matt snow-white Kaolinite, aka China Clay. This is a dramatic piece, large, and scientifically important, showing this late stage of replacement even within the secondary mineralization. Ex Milton Lavers collection.
