This really is an unusual and beautiful specimen of Adularia from the Zillertal Valley in the Tyrol, Austria. It is clearly an old and historic specimen, based on its accompanying wonderful handwritten label and the general look of the specimen itself. This translucent creamy equant crystal is multi-faced and is a combination of dodecahedral and similar crystal forms. The lustre is pearly with an opalescent schiller, more commonly termed moonstone lustre. This 2.8 cm diameter crystal is attached to a little fine-grained Chloritic matrix, just completing what is a most attractive small miniature.
