Inesite is an extremely rare calcium manganese iron silicate hydroxide hydrate found in crystals in just a small number of locations worldwide. One region where exceptional crystals have been found is the Kalahari manganese field in Northern Cape Province, South Africa in the Wessels mine and the N'Chwaning mines. This superb orange-pink crystalline ball of Inesite with a radial internal structure comes from the N'Chwaning ll mine earlier this century. Externally, the Inesite is much darker with a rough velvety texture, but internally the radiating acicular crystals are pale pink with a silky lustre. This superb miniature Inesite is Ex Eike Pätz Collection.
