A sharp, pointed, gemmy, deep burgundy Hydroxylclinohumite crystal, 1.3 x 1 cm, is perched upon pale cream colour chalky matrix from Jikhan in Koksha Valley, Kuran Wa Munjan District, Badakhshan, Afghanistan. Previously marketed as Clinohumite and then Chondrodite, the latest data suggests that they are actually Hydroxylclinohumite, making them some of world's best for this species. This superb miniature is from the amazing systematic collection assembled by the brothers Martin and Michael Günther (1951-2007 & 1956-2021). The individual Hydroxylclinohumite crystal is very lovely, in great condition from the front and displaying many complex crystal faces with a rich colour and fine lustre. The rear of the crystal is more rounded - where it was previously joined to matrix which has been removed - but it displays very nicely.
