Tsumeb mine is renowned for superb crystallized Cerussite and remarkably complex twinned crystals, and occasionally these show alteration to opaque white Hydrocerussite as demonstrated by this very large miniature specimen. Forming a dense, pure, crystallized aggregate, this repeatedly twinned Cerussite specimen presents the perfect, classic form for which Tsumeb is so well-known and is in really fine condition. Interestingly, the twinning is not purely cyclic (like a flower), but has secondary twinning branching off from the earlier larger branches, to present a little like a Christmas tree. Internally, translucent Cerussite, the outer surface is frosted white from alteration to Hydrocerussite.
