Having said earlier in the week that specimens of Hemimorphite from Elkhorn mine are rarely ever seen available, like the proverbial buses, two come along together! Not only is this specimen bigger - albeit marginally - the crystals are much, much larger, but maintain the lovely pale blue shade with 'damp' lustre. In fact, unlike the previous specimen, this one has very little gossan matrix. Instead, it is an almost pure aggregate of fan-like sprays of bladed Hemimorphite crystals, some reaching over 1 cm across. It is a remarkably rich American hemimorphite, from an old-time classic locality, and presents beautifully - much better in the video than the photo. Having stated that the earlier example is a significant American Hemimorphite specimen, this one is a touch of class, a league above, and exhibiting all of the finest qualities that Hemimorphite can provide. Whoever owns this will not be disappointed.
