A large, and heavy, display specimen of botryoidal Hematite of the variety known a Kidney Ore from the Nigel Pit at Roanhead Mine on the Furness peninsula in southern Cumbria. Slightly resembling a large brain in form, the outer surface of the botryoids are covered in unusual small 'pimple'-like growths. This thin outer layer has peeled away in several small areas showing the more usual smoother botryoidal surface underneath. The whole specimen is made of layers of pure Hematite. A most instructive specimen worthy being a feature specimen on display. Due to its weight, additional postage charges will apply to this specimen.
