Large platy-blades of Specularite, a crystallised variety of Hematite, form a superb 2.8 x 2.0 x 1.5 cm cluster. These sit on a surface of stubby clear Quartz crystals mixed with 2 to 3 mm sized Specularite blades which coat a matrix of brick-red tinted, light grey massive Hematite. This choice display of crystallised Hematite is from the now closed and flooded Florence mine by the town of Egremont in west Cumbria, England, a mine renowned for its superb Hematite. The Specularite blades measure to about 1.5 x 1.5 cm and are unusual for being bronze-black while displaying a superb spectrum of iridescent colours.
