This miniature specimen of crystallized Hausmannite is from a really unusual locality, not far removed from the Type Locality. Consisting of many small (1 to 2 mm), black, octahedral crystals, the Hausmannite is sat on the surface of white Baryte. From a private German collection and originally from the University of Rostock and the University of Greifswald, the specimen is accompanied by an old handwritten label appearing to date from the 19th century. It records the locality as Elgersburg, a village a few miles west of Ilmenau, and about 10 miles west-northwest of the Type Locality.
