A magnificent intergrown group of lustrous cinnamon-red Grossular Garnet crystals, of the variety Hessonite, from 'ulov' in the Olomouc Region of the Czech Republic. The crystals measure to 3 cm and are opaque with a glass-smooth texture and mirror like lustre. The crystal form is complex, with recognisable faces being the rhombic dodecahedron and the deltoidal icositetrahedron (24 kite-shaped faces) which combine into complex complete crystals. Modifications to the prism edges cause the crystals to look and feel slippery, polished and rounded, giving the specimen great tactile appeal. A tremendous Grossular Garnet from 'ulov'.
