An excellent specimen of beautiful gemmy crystals of Grossular Garnets from the prime location at the Jeffrey mine by the town of Asbestos in Canada. Five clusters of twins and four individual crystals of the Grossular variety Hessonite, measure to 1.4 cm across on a light grey finely crystallized matrix, possibly of crystallized Talc or certainly Talc-rich due to its smooth and waxy texture. The Hessonite crystals are a delightful gemmy pumpkin-orange with a hint of pink and form superb multi-sided glassy crystals with bright lustrous faces and stepped edges between faces. The contrast between the Hessonite and light grey matrix is sublime. A museum-grade specimen of Hessonite Garnet from the classic Jeffrey mine. Keeping up with the times, on 19th October 2020 residents voted to change the town's name from Asbestos to Val-des-Sources.
