A superbly crystallised Goethite specimen from the well known Restormel Royal Iron Mine at Lostwithiel near to St. Austell in Cornwall. Originally called Trinity mine and then Restormel Iron mine, it gained its Royal status following a visit in 1846 by Queen Victoria and Prince Albert, from where Albert took a specimen to add to his mineral collection. This good-size miniature is composed of massive Goethite (iron-ore) criss-crossed by thin veins of a stockwork-like milky Quartz with rich areas of beautifully crystallised lustrous black metallic Goethite.
