A rich small cabinet-sized mass of purple-red Cuprite coated with Malachite, has a 6 cm long internal cavity richly filled with dark blue to blue-green aggregated crystals and cleavages of the extremely rare copper nitrate hydroxide, Gerhardtite. The richness of this cavity should not be understated - this is an incredibly rare species. The crystals measure a staggering 1.2 cm and look stunning with their almost unique colour and lustre. Sparse, light to mid-blue crystal areas of Buttgenbachite occur around the edges of the cavity. A superb, large, and rare specimen from the recent find at the Likasi Mine, Katanga, Democratic Republic of Congo. Remarkable museum quality material.
