A specimen of solid steel-grey Galena forming tightly intergrown cubic crystals from Rotherhope Fell mine, southwest of Alston, on Alston Moor, Cumbria, England. Faces of the Galena crystals can attain 2 cm on edge, but are generally much smaller due to interference from the tightly packed adjacent crystals. Occasional patches of micro-crystallised drusy Quartz overgrow the Galena. A rarely seen Galena specimen from this classic mine.
