An excellent small cabinet specimen of bright metallic silver Galena crystals with Fluorite from Blackdene, one of Weardale's last working mines, closed in 1987. The specimen was originally in the collection of Max D. Freier, an avid North of England collector during the l970's and 80's, before passing into the David Green collection. Two well developed Galena crystals measure to 2.5 cm, are cubic with octahedral modifications and display extensive offset growth. Translucent to occasionally gemmy purple-green Fluorite forms the matrix. A classic and showy Galena specimen from Blackdene mine at Ireshopeburn, Weardale, County Durham, England.
