The association of large cubo-octahedral Galena crystals on purple Fluorite cubes is instantly recognizable as from Blackdene mine in Weardale, Co. Durham, England. This smaller cabinet specimen from George Farr's collection features complex cubo-octahedral Galena crystals to 2 cm across, upon a bed of smaller, but very gemmy, purple twinned Fluorite crystals. The back of the specimen shows that the Fluorite has formed upon Calcite. The Galena crystals are mostly in extremely good condition, but one larger crystal has noticeable contact damage with cleavage surfaces visible.
