A classic specimen of Galena on Siderite from the famous Neudorf mining area in Germany. The Galena forms a 3 cm by 2.3 cm intergrown group of cubo-octahedral crystals, with bright metallic lustre, aesthetically set at the top of the specimen. The Galena crystals have grown on light yellow-brown sharp rhombic crystals of Siderite to 0.6 cm on edge. The translucent Siderite crystals have a stunning silky-wet lustre. Milky Quartz forms the matrix, upon which the Galena and Siderite have been deposited. A classic combination of minerals from Neudorf, which are rarely available now days. This is a particularly attractive specimen and in exceptional condition for its age. An iconic, instantly recognizable European classic from the 19th century.
